Publication Design: Write a magazine on geography. Each student will create his or her own two spreads/story, which will be combined, resulting in a collective magazine. Pick a place that left an indelible mark on you and that you would want to share with a general audience. The only criteria is that it must be a place where something significant happened, or happens, that you can talk about from a "place" of experience. Must be able to visually communicate the ideas and emotions about what makes this place so special and particular to you. Show us, the reader, your perspective, which can only come from your experience.

 

I picked Overland Park, KS since that is where I grew up and since I was in Massachusetts I was missing home.

 

For the final design, I wanted to create a play off of the state song. Since no one knew Kansas in Massachusetts then I put my play on it describing and showing how it actually is populated and is a city not farmland.
